Asteroid Goddesses 101: Pt4 - Psyche
Who is she and why should you care?
The goddess Psyche of Greek mythology is known for her passion for Eros. But she also shows us, via our birth chart, where we require healing and integration to enable us to make our own way to love.

Pysche’s story is the classic heroine’s tale of love found, lost and reunited.
In the enchanting myth of Psyche and Eros, we are introduced to Psyche, a stunning mortal princess who unwittingly draws the envy of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, with her extraordinary beauty that even surpasses that of Aphrodite herself. This sets in motion a series of events in which Eros, the god of love and son of Aphrodite, is instructed by his mother to make Psyche fall in love with something wretched. However, fate intervenes when Eros accidentally pricks himself with his own arrow and falls deeply in love with Psyche instead. Eros whisks Psyche away to a breathtaking palace, where he visits her only under the guise of darkness, imploring her never to gaze upon his true form. When Psyche defies this request, she is banished from the palace. To prove her devotion to Eros, she embarks on a courageous journey, enduring a series of formidable trials set forth by Aphrodite. Through the assistance of other compassionate gods, Psyche emerges triumphant, earning her rightful place among the gods and, in the end, reuniting with Eros to enjoy everlasting bliss and immortality.
But what about Pysche and her meaning when she turns up in important areas of your chart? So glad you asked!
Of the different views on what Psyche means for us mere mortals, the one that aligns most with my own experience is that of human design specialist and asteroid goddess expert Kim Gould.
Ultimately, Psyche is about our own integration of mind, body, and soul. She represents waking up from the passive acceptance of fate, making our own choices about what we desire and trusting we can make our way to love. Help is always available, although perhaps not from the sources or in the ways we are expecting it.1
Gould suggests that her position in your chart shows a long-standing wound to your soul and the journey you will take to awaken, both to yourself and to love. You can see how important healing our Psyche wound is if we wish for healthy relationships with ourselves and others.
Take a look at which house the minor planet Psyche is in within your birth chart to get an understanding of the area of life where her wound shows up for you, and where your integration work lies - then commit to following your own north star, healing any related wounds and standing firm in your integrated sovereignty.
When Psyche's Dream - the original watercolour pictured above - was painted in 2021, The asteroid Psyche was in transit through my 12th house, conjunct Venus in Cancer, inspiring me to connect with her in a Venusian way - at home (Cancer) and during a period of lockdown (12th house) - through art (Venus).
Interestingly, as I write this post, Pysche is in my natal 7th house (social intercourse) Aquarius (potentiality), trine my Gemini (flow of information) 11th house (networks) Mercury (writing).
You see how astrology can be surprisingly literal and straightforward to interpret once you know the keywords!
